Lucille Ball
Just the mention of her name makes me laugh. Lucille Ball was born in New York on August 6, 1911. When I read that date it causes me to pause, because if she were living today she would be almost 100 years. I can only visualize a young vibrant dizzy Lucy. Many remember Lucy from the TV show I Love Lucy where she performed with her husband Desi Arnez, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. This sitcom was piped into homes for many years. Lucy and Ricky had their children in front of the whole world. Lucy continued to act even through the pregnancy of her children. Because the show is syndicated, we can still see episodes of this funny red head today. The various shows that starred Lucy would change, but her comedy was what kept the audience watching the shows. I still think of the “I Love Lucy” series when I hear her name.
We all know about Lucy’s marriage to Desi Arnez. That marriage lasted 20 years. How many remember her husband, comedian Browsergames Rollenspiel Gary Morton? They were married for 28 years. She was married to Gary when she died at the age of 77.
On Broadway Lucy used the stage name, Diane Belmont. Lucy modeled and worked Broadway in the late 20s and early ‘30s. Lucy had a great Broadway career. Lucy won four Emmy Awards even though she was nominated thirteen times. She also won the Cecil DeMille Golden Globe Award in 1979.
Lucy was a model, comedian, TV actress, Broadway star, and radio celebrity. Lucy started making movies in 1930. She did radio in the ‘40s. She was seen on the big screen with the funny man Bob Hope.
